Momentous Occasion

There are certain firsts a parent looks forward to in their children's lives:  First smile, first steps, first time sleeping through the night... Well, we had a huge first at our house last night.  Our children watched "Star Wars" for the first time.  This may not seem like a big deal to some, but in our house it is a very big deal.

PB wondered if he should kick off the evening with a speech to commemorate the occasion.  I kept wondering, "Are they ready?  Is it too soon?  Will we be crushed if they don't fully appreciate the cinematic wonder that is Star Wars?"

If you haven't guessed we're kind of Star Wars geeks here.  PB has been one since childhood and passed on his passion for all things Jedi to me when we were dating.  Yes, we were some of those fools waiting in line for tickets to the prequels on opening day (we aren't completely around the bend - we didn't camp out or wear costumes, but we do have an appreciation for those who did).

And the verdict?  Our DNA connection has been confirmed.  Doc Brown loved the light sabers, X-Wing Fighters and the climactic Death Star destruction.  And our girl, our little Obi Wan-da, was right there with us.  She was particularly fond of Darth Vadar and kept asking us when he was going to be good.  She even woke me up this morning saying , "Mommy, I really did like Star Wars."

And there was joy throughout the galaxy.
