At the risk of moving beyond your garden variety crazy, I have to ask this question:
Can you fold your ear down? Seriously. Can you do it?
I ask because we were having a stupid human tricks session at the dinner table one night and everyone in my family can fold their ears down except for me. I mean REALLY fold their ears, not just bend them down.
Apparently, I have very stiff ears.
Weird, right?

Maybe I tried bouncing jello BECAUSE my ears don't bend.
I'm far too ashamed of my sub-standard ear bending skills to offer photographic evidence :)
