Celebrating that OTHER Labor Day

There's a lot of fun blogginess going on over at one of my other favorite blogs: Rocks in My Dryer. She's posted a meme regarding that other labor day, the one nobody has a barbeque for.

How long were your labors?
#1: 19 hours
#2: scheduled C-section

How did you know you were in labor?
#1: water breaking
#2:  what labor?

Where did you deliver?
At a nice, clean hospital with a private room and room service.

Drugs?
Yes, they go with pitocin like peanut butter and jelly.  And the police would have been involved if there were no drugs at my c-section.

C-Section?
Complications from #1's delivery made #2's c-section a no brainer.

Who Delivered?
#1: Mostly my wonderful midwife until my doctor came in with a posse and the big, bad vacuum.
#2: My doctor. Also a nurse whose only job was to count the instruments to make sure nothing was left inside when the surgery was over.  It was creepy and reassuring at the same time.

How about you?

I'm with you on the thankfulness of a c-section for baby #2. I had forceps instead of the vacuum but I'm sure they are equal in their awfulness.

Oh fun...I'll play! :)

How long were your labors?
Water was broken at 7:30am and Annie arrived around 1:45pm... so a little over 6 hours

How did you know you were in labor?
After walking around feeling absolutely nothing at 100% effaced and FIVE centimeters dilated (I'm clearly a freak of nature) - and with my famously short cervix... my doctors convinced me to do a schedule induction one week before my due date... just so I wouldn't deliver Annie on the side of a road somewhere. :)

Where did you deliver?
Fair Oaks Hospital... my 2nd home after spending 3 weeks on bed rest there (follwed by 9 more at home)! :)

Drugs?
I hear ya on the Pitocin! I was begging for the epidural within an hour of getting that stuff.

C-Section?
No

Who Delivered?
My wonderful doctor, Jamie Zaita

Hard to believe that was all almost a year ago!!!!

Sound like interesting births! Thanks for sharing! I am due in less than 4 weeks and have had fun reading all these stories thanks to RIMD. My friends are leaving advice for me on our blog this week if you'd like to stop by and share some words of wisdom! :)
