Have I mentioned how much I love our church?
PB and I went to one wonderful church for the first 10 years of our marriage. Amazing teaching, wonderful people.
Why leave?
Because God called us to a new church planted by our old church and pastored by my brother-in-law. Again, amazing teaching, wonderful people.
Why leave?
Because the new church was a 40 minute drive one way. And as much as I am in awe of our brothers and sisters in other countries who willingly travel 2 hours on foot for a Sunday service, PB and I knew that God was calling us to attend church in our own community. We needed to be in regular fellowship with other believers, but the drive was making that too difficult.
We made the drive for almost three years. The first year and a half because we were where God wanted us and the second because we were scared to leave. Good churches are (sadly) very hard to come by. We thought there was no way we'd find another place where we would be taught sound biblical doctrine, be challenged to apply it to our lives and feel at home with the other members.
Praise God we were wrong. The moment we walked into our new church on that January morning PB and I KNEW. We have been so blessed in our new church, learned so much and have felt so welcome.
And it's only 15 minutes from our house.
Hallelujah!

You are right - good churches are hard to find. I agree that it is important to worship in your community. I enjoy your blog.
wonderful! sometimes finding a church home is more difficult than finding a home home.
